Sithole remains confident despite lacklustre performance

Although he tried to put up a brave face after watching his team battle to a 2-2 draw with Notwane on Sunday, Gaborone United (GU) coach Mike Sithole was certainly worried that his charges faltered at a crucial time in the title race.

Though the stalemate did not change the fact that the Reds only need to avoid defeat against defending champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs on Saturday to lift the title, it could be a sign of nerves. Despite the prospect of meeting a fired-up Chiefs, Sithole said there is no need to panic since GU beat their title rivals in the first round. Chiefs trail GU by one point going into the last fixture of the season, which will determine this year's champions. The winner in the Chiefs-GU duel on Saturday takes the title while a draw will do it for the Reds.

Sithole was clearly not happy with his charges performance against Notwane, especially in the first half when they conceded two soft goals and had to fight tooth and nail to get back into the match which many thought would be a stroll in the park for GU. "I am obviously not happy with what they (players) did because they conceded two silly goals and were just chasing Notwane in the first half, but (credit to) Notwane (who) are a big team. We did not come here expecting any favours from them because they are aiming to avoid relegation," Sithole said.
