Shillinde insists he is a Wimbledon player

Controversial national team trialist, Bobby Shillinde insists he is an AFC Wimbledon player and will take action following a chain of newspaper reports touting his recent Zebras call-up as the hypnotic rise of a footballing chancer.

In a telephone interview from the United Kingdom (UK), Shillinde told Mmegi Sport he was baffled by reports that he does not turn out for the League Two side's reserves. He admits having read AFC Wimbledon press officer's statement in a UK publication, Guardian, which said: "I've checked with a few people.  This player has never played for AFC Wimbledon as far as we are aware. Just to point out also that AFC does not have an Under- 21 squad at the current time or reserves squad, though we do have a development squad." His defence to this is that in the UK teams have reserve sides and they call them Under 21. "So that is the team I play for though I have featured for the senior team eight times."

When probed further that the club had said there is no reserves, he said he was with the development side, which is like the club's reserve or feeder team. He maintained that he has featured for the club's senior team eight times after being identified by the coaches from the development side. However, a quick check on the club's team list shows no Shillinde."I don't really know what is going on, I have seen all these reports online and I have just arrived in the UK. I will be speaking to a few people here including my lawyers.
