Semakwezi takes charge in Green Boot race

With an average of seven games played, the race for the Green Boot award is intensifying.

Extension Gunners' striker, Bernard Semakwezi, leads the charge after scoring four goals against Uniao Flamengo Santos on Sunday. The Zambian has nine goals so far, one ahead of Terrence Mandaza of Township Rollers.

Semakwezi was ruthless against a youthful Santos in Molepolole in what was a sweet revenge for Gunners. Last season, Mapantsula were humiliated by the same scoreline by Santos and as fate would have it, all the goals came through one player. Just like Semakwezi was Santos' destroyer-in-chief on Sunday, striker Mogakolodi Ngele did the same against Gunners last season. So far, the Zambian striker is enjoying his game under Daniel 'Chicco' Nare. When Semakwezi arrived at Gunners, he made a brilliant start scoring three goals against his former team, BDF XI. It was dubbed the official comeback for a striker who endured a frustrating stay at Township Rollers while some said it was just a flash in the pan. Although Semakwezi did not regularly find the net after his hat-trick, he has been making good contribution to Gunners' overall play.
