Selebi-Phikwe to host BLLASA games

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Selebi-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) has won the bid to host the annual Botswana Local Authority Land Board Sports Association (BLLASA) annual games.

This was announced during a meeting held last month that was meant to elect BLLASA office bearers. Selebi-Phikwe won the bid over their competitors Jwaneng Town Council (JTC), which was the only branch that had entered the race to host the annual games. BLLASA games were held in Mahalapye last year.

The BLLASA publicity secretary for Selebi-Phikwe branch, Kamogelo Makaba, told Sport Monitor in an interview that Phikwe won the bid as it had better facilities than its competitor. These facilities include various fields for the sports that are to be played during the course of the games. Makaba also stated that their bid was successful as the Council top management and BLLAWU executive were fully behind them, which gave them the motivation to work even harder to win the bid.
