Rollers' appeal Mathe decision

Township Rollers have filed a case with the National Appeals Board following last week's decision by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC) to fine Mochudi Centre Chiefs P2,000 for using an ineligible player.

Rollers have lodged the appeal on the basis that they did not benefit from the ruling, though they won the case. The dispute arose after Chiefs used reserve goalkeeper, Thabiso Bobby Mathe in their game against Rollers early this year. It was determined by the DC that the goalkeeper is registered with the Rollers' youth team and did not belong to Chiefs who won the game in question.

Rollers' secretary general, Khumo Masonya said they are not happy with the penalty handed to Chiefs. He explained that in addition to the fine, Chiefs should have forfeited the full points to Rollers. He said Rollers did not benefit from the ruling as they were not awarded the points. "We want three points. We have won the case but we are not benefiting. The P2,000 is not for Rollers.  We feel it is unfair on us," Masonya charged.
