The chairman of the football Referees' Commission Harris Lebotse has urged match officials to use common sense besides the application of the 17 rules and regulations of the game. In an address to the eight teams of Kgatleng District Football League, he said the application of common sense and the law is necessary for the good management of the game.

Lebotse was the guest speaker at the prize giving ceremony of the President's Day eight teams' mini-league football tournament.
"In order for our football to attract and maintain sponsors, our football should be managed well right from the lower leagues to the highest leagues," said Lebotse.

He added that the referees should not take sides because this can cause violence. He said the supporters, referees and the players are key stakeholders in making sure that the game of football is played perfectly.
