President Ian Khama will honour arguably Botswana's best soccer export, Diphetogo 'Dipsy' Selolwane during the annual Presidential honours to be held over the Independence holiday.

While the Office of the President (OP) would not confirm if Selolwane is among personalities to be honoured on September 30, the diminutive Supersport United midfielder confirmed the development. "It (the honour) is humbling.  It means that people recognise the good work that you do. Probably it's proof that am doing things the right way," he told Mmegi Sport from his South Africa base yesterday. There were no details regarding Selolwane's nomination but it is expected that he would be honoured for his outstanding role in sports.

Presidential spokesperson, Maleta Lock, said she had not seen the list of nominees. It is not clear if there are other sportspersons on this year's list. Selolwane is expected to play a prominent role when the Zebras make their debut at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be co-hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon next January. He said he would continue playing as long as his legs can carry him.
