The re-grassing of the turf might delay the completion of the renovation work at the National Stadium, an architect at a consultancy company responsible for the facelift has said.

Anthony Sekgweng of Tectura International explained yesterday during a tour of the facility by new Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Shaw Kgathi that the construction and renovations of the stands are almost done and will be finished on as scheduled. He said the renovation of the stadium should be done by January 10 but they are anticipating a delay in the conclusion of the re-grassing of the pitch. Hitecon construction company won the tender to renovate the stadium in November last year.

Sekgweng explained that they initially wanted to start work on the pitch between August and September this year but this was not possible. Despite the setback, he assured the minister that the stadium will be ready for use by countries that might want to train in Botswana ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
