Pilane at Namibia's Eleven Arrows

Former Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Mogoditshane Fighters' midfielder, Thato Pilane, could be joining Namibia's biggest club, Eleven Arrows, after an impressive trial stint at the club.

Pilane has been at the club for the past two weeks and indications are that the club has shown interest but the challenge is the amount of money his agent is claiming. The player's agent, Olebile Sikwane, of Sporthuis, confirmed the development saying negotiations were at an advanced stage. "They've contacted us and said they are interested in the boy. We gave them the initial offer and they said it was too steep. We then reviewed it and gave it to them so we are waiting for their response," Sikwane told Mmegi Sport. Eleven Arrows' chairman, Gabriel Tjobe,.also confirmed interest in the player, adding that they were looking at Sporthuis' demands. "We have the player here and basically what is happening is that we received the offer from the player's agent and we are still looking into it. I'm based in Windhoek so the guys in Walvis Bay are handling everything," Tjobe said. Pilane is a young brother to Centre Chiefs and Zebras' fringe player, Jabu Pilane. Despite his rare talent, the younger Pilane failed to breakthrough at Chiefs and was loaned to Fighters at the Walvis Bay outfit.

Arrows are credited with producing Orlando Pirates' new striker, Rudolph Bester. The club is currently having a bad start in the Namibia Premier League two games into the season. They have lost their opening games and are perched on position 11 on the 12-team log. If Pilane successfully joins the club, he will not be the first Botswana player to ply his trade in the neighbouring country. Gaborone United (GU) goalkeeper, Noah Maposa, had a stint there a few seasons ago.
