Phikwe to host AON bowls tourney

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Phikwe Bowls Club will host the AON Botswana annual bowls tournament at the weekend.

Teams expected to participate in the tournament are Jwaneng, Gaborone, Francistown and Orapa. Botswana Bowling Association (BBA) spokesperson, John Gaborutwe told Mmegi Sport in an interview that AOB Risk Management sponsors the tournament, which is scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday, to the tune of P20, 000.

He explained that the tournament will be played in four categories: singles, triples, pairs, and fours.  Gaborutwe said the winners will walk away with P5, 000 each, while runners-up will pocket P3, 000 and the team finishing third will get P1, 500.The defending champions are the 2012 hosts, the Phikwe club, who also managed to win the tournament for the second successive year. But whether Phikwe Bowls Club will maintain their good run remains to be seen.
