Pheto Reveals South Africa's Pledge

Minister of Sports, Youth and Culture Moeng Pheto has said that southern African countries have been assured they can host teams participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the entire duration of the tournament.

The minister said hosts South Africa has told neighbouring countries that they can take advantage of the World Cup to host participating countries.  Pheto said he has already attended two meetings for regional sports ministers in Addis Ababa and Johannesburg this year where the South Africans made the pledge. 

"At our Addis Ababa meeting, the South African minister assured us that they have opened discussions with FIFA and the international footballing body had no problem with teams having to fly from neighbouring countries.
