Panthers down Giants

Panthers put up a five-star performance to outsmart UB Giants 8-1 in an exciting Shell Women Softball League match at the UB Diamond on Saturday.

Kick-off was delayed by over two hours as the pitch was muddy from Friday night's downpour. Play started sluggishly perhaps because of the condition of the pitch with Panthers batting first. Their only positive move in the opening inning was Emang Jakoba's hit that saw her run to third base. Giants were also out of sorts in the bottom of the first inning and struggled to settle.

Their batters were all out in no time. There was no change in the second inning with both teams failing to make any significant progress. Panthers opened the scoring in the top three inning through Keneilwe Lebodi.
