P700,000 bonanza for Amos

Olympic sensation, Nijel Amos, looks set to score big off the oval track as reports that he will pocket more than P700,000 for his efforts come in.

Supermarket chain Choppies will give the 18-year-old US$60,000 (approximately P451,000) while he will receive various amounts from the government through the athletes incentives programme.

Amos, the first-ever Motswana to win a medal at the Olympic Games, will get P75,000 for the silver medal at London 2012 and P200,000 for winning gold and breaking a record at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona just before the Olympics.
