Oseg reunites with softball again

The managing director of Oseg Group, Majakathata Pheko has expressed concern at the failure of the Botswana Softball Association (BSA) to get sponsors for its events. He said despite being ranked among the biggest sports codes in Botswana, softball still struggles to get financial backers.

He was speaking at the launch of the second annual Oseg-AP classic tournament hosted by Vikings Softball Club. Pheko wondered why softball cannot get sponsors when other codes like football and karate are getting money with ease. "I think there is something that you are not doing right. We do not want to be the only ones sponsoring you. Go out there and look for sponsors," he challenged BSA officials. He expressed hope that this year's edition of the tournament will be as exciting as last year. Oseg has forked out P80,000 - an increase of P25,000 - for the event.

Tournament spokesperson, Labbeous Peloewetse thanked Oseg for standing by softball at a time when the economic crunch has made life difficult for everybody. He said that initially, they were scared because they wondered if the company would be able to sponsor them this year. Peloewetse thanked the media for the support they gave the tournament last year. "It is through such partnerships that we can be able to take our sport to the next level," he said.
