'No-Visas' Zebras stuck at Addis airport

A travel technicality saw the national team, the Zebras stuck at the Addis Ababa International Airport in Ethiopia for close to six hours on Tuesday.

Without proper visas the Ethiopian immigration officials would not let them  leave the airport terminal into the city after jetting in from Istanbul, Turkey, en route to Bangui, Central Africa Republic (CAR).

According to Botswana Football Association (BFA) Marketing and Communications officer Phakamile Kraii, the Botswana embassy in Addis had prepared some transit visas for the team as well as booking a hotel nearer to the stadium for their night stopover before proceeding to Bangui.
