Nico to construct own stadium

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Nico United have embarked on project to build their own stadium southeast of the central business district (CBD). Nico chairperson, Etlhomilwe Raditshego told Mmegi Sport that the project is underway. He explained that the project would be done in phases with the first phase being the construction of an office and dressing rooms.

He said that the stadium is being built at their training ground. "Having our own stadium will be very important because it will generate revenue for the club and it will also play a pivotal role in the development of the club.
"When we have our own facility, we can be able to implement our own plans. As a team, you are not only judged on the field of play but even outside," he said.Raditshego said the project would need a lot of money, adding that they are currently negotiating with potential sponsors.

He stated that he could not disclose the companies that they are negotiating with but their main sponsor, BCL Mine, cannot be ruled out. According to information reaching Mmegi Sport, BCL Mine has funded the project for P2 million.Meanwhile, Raditshego was co-opted onto the Nico committee after Robert Wanki's resignation.
