Nico release Semakwenzi

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Bernard Semakwenzi's contract with Nico United has expired and the club has decided against renewing it.Semakwenzi confirmed to Mmegi Sport this week that his stay at Nico has ended. He said the club had not shown any interest of renewing the relationship. Semakwenzi played a pivotal role for Majombolo, finding the back of the net 11 times.

"I do not see myself donning the Nico colours in the coming season.  The management of the team has not hinted anything that they are interested in my services. I just have to wait for any team that is interested in my services," he said. The 26 year old Zambian came to Botswana in 2006 and featured prominently for BDF XI before he was snatched by Township Rollers.  He then moved to Extension Gunners after limited success with Popa. Semakwenzi joined Nico two seasons.

Nico public relations officer, Simion Mooketsi said Semakwezi's contract expired on Monday. He said after careful consideration, they decided to part ways with the man popularly known as 'Marcopolo'. Meanwhile, Mooketsi said Nico would hold an annual general meeting at Area 1, in Selebi-Phikwe on Saturday. Some of the items on the agenda will be the presentation of the financial report and players' contracts, among others.
