Nico players get Premier League cash

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Nico United honoured its pledge to give players 25 percent of the P62,000 awarded to the club for finishing fourth in the Mascom Premier League last season.

Majombolo rewarded the players during a brief ceremony in Selebi-Phikwe on Saturday. Nico publicity officer, Eitlhomilwe Raditshego said the fourth place finish - the clubs highest was largely achieved due to teamwork. He said their sponsor, BCL Limited did not abandon them when the club was not performing well at the beginning of the season. Raditshego commended coach, Madinda Ndlovu and his assistant, Peter Muchina for staying with the team during difficult times. "We were able to sail together hence our success. Although we had our weaknesses, our strengths were many," Raditshego said.

He said the players had shown commitment throughout the season. Raditshego announced that the club has retained all its players and the technical team for the coming season. He said financial incentives offered by the club might not be the best but he promised that things will gradually improve. "Each player will get what he deserves according to his contribution last season. It is a challenge for those who got less than others to do well in the new season," Raditshego said.
