Nico, Fighters share spoils

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Veteran Mogoditshane Fighters' midfielder, Masego Ntshingane cost his side maximum points after he failed to convert from the spot in a lively Mascom Premier league match against Nico United on Saturday.

The referee awarded the visitors a penalty after Nico defender, Letsweletse 'Ace' Seane handled in a bid to clear in the 14th minute. Up stepped the former national team midfielder, only to pull his effort wide of Chrispen Nyamutambo's goal. Both Ntshingane and Barney Marman, another former Zebras' player, were a constant menace to Nico as they pulled the strings in the midfield. The two sides drew 0-0 in much an evenly contested match that could have gone either way. But Majombolo would feel that they could have done much better with a host of chances that came their way, particularly in the first half. Fighters were restricted to long range efforts, which flew wide.

In the 30th minute, Master Masitara could have put Nico ahead when he beat the defence but he miscued his shot. Hardly a minute later, Majombolo came back charging with Ngoni Mahosi's chipped shot flying across the face of goal with jittery Fighters keeper, Benson Mookodi beaten.
