Chiefs deserved the victory and could have buried their opponents in an avalanche of goals but poor finishing cost them. This was the opening game of the season and both sides looked rusty in the first 25 minutes. New Rollers' coach David Bright has a tough task ahead of him as his defence looked awful on the day. Zambian left-back, James Kachinga had a fantastic first game for Chiefs. The defender could have capped the brilliant debut with a goal in the opening 15 minutes but he fired wide.
The first goal came in the 37th minute when midfielder Aaron Kale tapped in Jabu Pilane's low cross. Kale was booked by referee Thapelo Disang for jumping over the fence when celebrating the opener. Chiefs' dreadlocked midfielder, Oteng Moalosi squandered a good opportunity in the 43rd minute after beating Rollers' offside trap.
