Mafolofolo fail to stop BDF VI

OTSE: Mafolofolo failed to break the stranglehold of BDF VI in the JB Sports volleyball festival when they let slip a two-set lead to fall 3-2 in the final on Sunday.

BDF VI have won all the editions of the tournament but Mafolofolo had the chance to change this over the weekend but blew it. After racing to a two-set lead, Mafolofolo were poised to end the dominance of BDF VI in the tournament by winning the third. However, they faltered badly in the crucial third set and missed an opportunity to finish their opponents. BDF VI won the set and proceeded to crush Mafolofolo twice to retain the title. The champions walked away with P5,000 while runners-up got P3,500.

The main downfall of BDF VI in the first two sets seemed to be poor strategy. BDF came to the game with a slow approach with the expectation that Mafolofolo will come at them with fast play. That was not the case as Mafolofolo employed the same slow approach. Though the army side realised that its plan was not working, it took time to change and the result was a consecutive two-set loss. BDF VI players seemed to lack something as they failed to work as a unit and committed basic mistakes. Mafolofolo gave them a tough time without moving to second gear as BDF VI players failed to communicate properly. In many cases, the players found themselves fighting for the same balls.
