Kalavango and Spartans women started the second round of the Mascom Volleyball League in impressive fashion as the race for top honours resumed over the weekend.

Kalavango won both their matches against Magstimela and Spiking Stars and find themselves at the top of the log. The leaders are two points clear of second placed Kutlwano, although the latter have two games in hand.Despite winning all their matches Mafolofolo remain third with 25 points. Spartans, who joined the league late in the first round, resumed the campaign on a high note, winning two of their three matches. The Selebi-Phikwe outfit beat Dynamites and Spiking Stars 3-0 respectively, before suffering a similar reversal at the hands of Mafolofolo.

Prior to the weekend matches, Spartans coach had promised that they would do everything to keep pace with the chasing pack. The results saw Spartans leap from position 10 to eight on 18 points. But perennial strugglers Prisons, Dynamites and Spiking Stars are still languishing at the bottom of the log with 13, 12 and 10 points after failing to win over the weekend.Meanwhile, there has not been much change in the men's league though only Mafolofolo, of the title contenders, were inactive. Despite not playing, BDF VI still remain at the summit of the log.
