Invest more in athletics

Throughout the week, it has been kudos for the organising committee of the Africa Youth Games. This follows the successful hosting of the games, which in terms of both organisation and performance exceeded expectations.

The spirit and camaraderie reminded me of the 1997 second CAF Under-17 Championships which like the Youth Games had CAF president, Issa Hayatou smiling from ear to ear and urged Botswana to bid for the Africa Cup of Nations finals. ANOCA president, Lassana Palefo was equally excited during the Youth Games.

Research has shown that as part of fast tracking the development of sport in the country, hosting is the best way to close the gap with the rest of world.
