Newcomers White Rhinos got a baptism of fire on Saturday when they lost 52-0 to Gaborone Hogs in the opening match of the Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) 2012 League season at Wharic Park.

The former champions, Hogs dominated play right from the onset, giving their opponents little room to go on the offensive. But the league rookies, Rhinos will live to rue the numerous unnecessary fouls they committed that gave their opponents most of their points. As early as the second minute, Hogs' fullback Hugo Botha, outstanding all afternoon, bagged a kick to thrust his side nose ahead. Thereafter, Hogs picked up momentum and launched attack after attack while their opponents easily cracked at the back allowing them to stretch the lead.

Rhinos never made any meaningful foray beyond the centre line in the opening 15 minutes of the game.
