Haskins to sponsor Top 8 youth tourney

Gaborone City Regional Football Association yesterday unveiled Haskins as this years Top 8 tournament sponsors.

The tournament, which involves the Top 8 youth sides in the region, will be played this coming weekend, featuring Happy Hearts, Notwane, Gaborone United, Broadhurst United, Smodden, Barclays, White City and Amagents.Haskins has popped up P10, 000 for this year’s event and the company has committed itself to continue with the relationship next year. Speaking at the launch of the sponsorship in Gaborone yesterday, company representative Andrew Field said their aim was to see the tournament grow from strength to strength. He said although there is always a challenge of limited resources, their aim is to see to it that initiatives like the youth tournament are supported.
“My hope is that next year’s tournament will be even much better,” he said.

The regional association’s chairperson welcomed the sponsorship and emphasised the need to develop the sport at grassroots level. He said the sponsorship is likely to motivate not only the young players but also their parents who are likely to see the need to release the kids. “The arrival of sponsor for this youth tournament is also likely to push team managers to try and run their teams professionally,” Otimile said.
