Hard Times Drive BISA Sponsors Away

Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) president, Batshidi Tsae has said many of their sponsors are shying away and now they are facing financial difficulties.

He told the BISA Annual General Meeting on Saturday in Gaborone that sometimes they lose sponsors because of management changes and lack of documentation. He said where the sponsorship is not documented, a new management can easily end the relationship. In other instances, a new management ends the sponsorship deal because its priorities are different from its predecessor. He told delegates at the meeting to be professional at all times when handling sponsorship issues to maintain the relationship. He said a sponsorship should not be viewed as a one-off activity but a long-term project.

"We need to work very hard to ensure that the codes which do not have sponsorship are sponsored," he said. Tsae added that BISA stakeholders, coaches and officials lack discipline. He said coaches insult officials and lead player walk-outs from the playing field.
