The development has left a financial hole at GU and the Reds are now seeking compensation from Gunners for the bills they incurred when they accommodated the player in a lodge in the hope of signing him. GU spokesperson, Atamelang Thaga told Mmegi Sport that they want Gunners to settle the bills since they have taken the player. He said that Khumalo came from Zimbabwe to sign for them after being recommended by coach Luke Masomere. The player is said to have once played under Masomere in Zimbabwe. Thaga said that Masomere wanted the player to replace Zimbabwean striker Sageby Sandaka when he moves to South Africa. "Masomere then spoke to the player in Zimbabwe during the Easter Holidays and he agreed to join us. We invited him before the Orange Kabelano Charity Cup so that we could use him as a guest player but we decided to use Diphetogo Selolwane since we knew that Dipsy was going and the Zimbabwean player will be with us for a long time," he said.
He revealed that Khumalo has been training with them since then and refuted allegations that they were hiding him. "We wouldn't have kept the player at the hotel if we wanted to hide him and we wouldn't have been talking about the player at all," he said.
