Green Birds emerge as Coke Cup giant slayers

Division one side, Molapo Green Birds remains the only lower division side in the Coca-Cola Cup following their victory over Notwane on Saturday.

The victory has sent a stern warning to other Premier League sides about the intentions of the Mmopane side after Nico United became victims in the previous round. Many had thought the victory over Nico was a fluke or just one of the surprises that usually come with the Coca-Cola Cup, but Saturday's result has proved otherwise. Green Birds defeated Nico 3-2.

On Saturday they took the lead twice against Notwane, but conceded the second goal in the dying minutes of the second half. Lemogang Maswena's goal took the game to a penalty shootout, but the lower division side held its nerve to score all four penalties while Notwane missed two.
