Golden Girls issue still unresolved

The Serowe-based Golden Girls women football team's dreams of plying their trade in the league may never come to fruition as the Botswana Football Association (BSA) has not yet resolved the issue.

The team that was formed last year could not be included in the national women's league on the grounds that it was the only team in the north, meaning southern teams could not afford to travel to the north to honour fixtures. However, the association promised then that they would find a way of helping them so that they could take part in the league in the coming season.

Women Football League chairperson Agreement Podi said the issue has not yet been settled, adding that their hands are full because there are a lot of issues pending from last season. The 2007/2008 leagues ended last month but the annual league awards have not been held. Podi said they are awaiting a BFA response on the awards as well.
