Gabonamong doubtful for Ethiopia tie

SuperSport United midfield grafter, Mogogi 'Gino' Gabonamong is doubtful for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa this weekend because of a thigh injury.

Gabonamong sat out when SuperSport United played a goalless draw against Angola's Pedro De Luanda after sustaining the injury last Wednesday against Vasco Da Gama in a Nebank Cup game. The midfielder has been playing well lately and has led the club as captain twice prior to the injury after a slow start to the season.

But an injury picked up in Cape Town last week will see the former Santos hard man miss the Zebras' crucial encounter this weekend."We were playing in Cape Town when I picked up the injury; it's quite a serious injury. I actually went to see the doctor and he thinks it is a serious injury and we need to observe it for some time," Gabonamong told Mmegi Sport. He said he was not engaging in any training this week as he has been given time to rest. "I'll be resting this week, I don't think I will train and I doubt I will make it for the Zebras' game, I need to sit down and heal first," he said.
