Four teams promoted to First Division

JWANENG: Moshupa-based Mathaithai and Liverpool from Ramotswa have qualified for the First Division South League after fine displays in the promotion play-offs held in Jwaneng over the President's Day holidays.

Mathaithai's passage to the play-offs was marred by controversy when it got entangled in a tug-of-war with Kanye United that was eventually resolved by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Disciplinary Committee. The two clubs had to play each other and Mathathai emerged 2-0 winners to advance to the play-offs.

Their good form continued at the play-offs and ultimately earned them a place in the First Division alongside Liverpool. The Ramotswa side went into the play-offs as underdogs but surprised many to join neighbours Letlapeng in the First Division.
