F-town, Jwaneng vie for bowls supremacy

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Francistown Bowling Club head into this weekend 31st edition of the Botsogo Tuli Bowls tournament knowing well that victory will land them the coveted Haskins trophy.

The men and women from the second city are on the verge of clinching the league as they enjoy a healthy nine-point lead over nearest rivals and defending champions, Jwaneng.

The bowls league is played on a round robin format with each of the six clubs playing host to a national tournament. The overall winner in the four tournaments walks away with the Haskins trophy. Francistown has been consistent throughout the campaign coming tops in the Gaborone and Orapa legs. Gaborone, with a wider pool of players, only managed first position during the Francistown leg, tying with fast improving Opara on 16 points.
