SELEBI-PHIKWE: Eastern Military Garrison (EMG) Gunners' supporters have every reason to believe that their team is on the verge of redeeming its lost pride.

Gunners became the first team from outside Gaborone to win the league title in 2009 after beating another army side, Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Cheetahs. The side showed that they mean business when they crushed debutants, Mochudi Rugby Club 90-0 during a one-sided match played at the Selebi-Phikwe Stadium recently.Gunners have signed on seven new players from outside Selebi-Phikwe and Bucks Keopetswe who plays forward are also back from retirement.Keopetswe is a former national Under-19 and women's national team coach.

He is expected to bring vast experience and technique to the side. The side seemed to crumble after losing their coach, Neal Gouws when he relocated to South Africa and scrum-half, Condrad Ntsebe, who moved to Gaborone and joined archrivals, University of Botswana (UB) Rhinos. It seemed back then that the players had lost their self-confidence.After the departure of Gouws, his former assistant, Thusego Segaise took over the reins. Ntsebe's void has proved difficult to fill, but players like Nelson Gobe and Kabelo Setoto look able replacements. Segaise told Mmegi Sport that his plan for the season is to get the team organised and raise the level of tactical awareness among the players.
