ECCO, Chiefs close gap

ECCO City Greens and Mochudi Centre Chiefs have made their intentions clear after a weekend in which they completed doubles over their opponents, Gaborone United (GU) and Police XI in the be MOBILE Premier League.

With log leaders Township Rollers' match against Unao Flamengo Santos failing to take place on Friday, ECCO and Chiefs took advantage to cut the lead at the top.

Rollers' match against Santos did not take place at the UB Stadium after it appeared the stadium management knew nothing about a game being played there. Many thought ECCO would have a difficult trip after beating GU 3-2 recently in Francistown but they proved once again that they are really in contention for the league title after a 1-0 victory over the same team in about a week. The victory put them within two points of log leaders, Rollers, who have a game in hand. The result however further deepened GU's woes. They now find themselves in eighth position although they were initially among the favourites to win the title. It was Letang Kgengwenyane's first game in charge as the head after Mike Sithole's dismissal last week, although it is only on a temporary basis.
