Dube was investigated after allegations that some of the kit bought for hosts Botswana had disappeared. Dube, who was the team manager, told the media that the apparels were not enough for all Batswana athletes, hence they had to share. Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) executive secretary, Kitso Kemoeng ordered an investigation on Dube, arguing that the council had bought enough apparel for the team. Dube was to tell a two-man inquiry consisting of Mmoloki Mmolotsi and Marvin Toto what happened to the other kit.
Dube's troubles started after the championships when he accused management of neglecting the team. After the team's poor performance Dube fired a salvo at BAA officials saying they spent a lot of time at the Local Organising Committee (LOC) when there were supposed to be preparing for the local team. He was suspended from athletics after the association felt that he was putting the integrity of the association into disrepute by hanging its dirty linen in public. After that the committee was dissolved after affiliates passed a motion of no confidence on it following allegations of vote rigging in the February elections. While all other members of the dissolved committee were allowed to seek re-election Dube was barred on the basis that he was still serving suspension. In addition, Kemoeng told BAA to launch an investigation on Dube.
