Doubts over Khama's sports Incentives

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has expressed doubts about the viability of the raft of financial incentives for sports men and women announced on Monday by President Ian Khama.

BFA chief executive officer, Tosh Kgotlele told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they had long known about the incentives but they have had their own reservations about them. "We caucused with Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) and department of sports and recreation and we are still to present our final decision. We do not think this is the best way to go about the whole thing," he said. It is understood that even the BNSC is not comfortable with Khama's announcement that the government will introduce appearance fees for sportsmen and women involved in official competitions by the national team; and monthly allowances for local players in the Premier League, First Division North and South.
