Women's football club Double Action scored big nailing a P1 million-sponsorship deal with local motor repair company Central Motors.

The sponsorship, a first of its kind at soccer club level was announced on Friday at the Botswana Football Association's (BFA) Lekidi Centre. The reigning league champions received a cheque of P1 million at the launch and are set to benefit further based on return on investment on the part of the sponsor. Central Motors Managing Director Anoop Singh said they will continue pledging a million Pula each season for four more years culminating into P5 million provided the club handles the finances well to keep the relationship healthy.

Singh said they were impressed with the proposal presented to them by Double Action hence they decided to come forth and pledge the sponsorship. He said Double Action is an ambitious side with an impressive track record since their formation in 1995 and most importantly he was impressed with the good job the club has been doing with young women. "It is not only about playing soccer, they help them to stay away from many social ills that have ravaged societies lately and it was easy for us to relate with them as we also have a role to play in enhancing lives of people," he said.
