Debswana unveils P6m Div One sponsorship

The diamond mining company Debswana board chairman, Eric Molale has called for the professionalisation of football in the country.

He was speaking in Gaborone on Tuesday as the mining giants unveiled a three-year P6 million partnership with the South and North leagues receiving P3 million each. The sponsorship is effective from the start of 2012/2013 leagues. Each team will be given a grant before the end of the league.  

On professionalism, he said communities who in most cases have no idea about the commercialisation of the game could no longer run the game. Molale, who is also the Permanent Secretary to the President, said Debswana adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and challenged their new partners to do likewise.
