Death delays duo's international clearance

Volleyball players Dipolelo Nkele and Tebogo Sejewe's bid to get a reverse international clearance suffered a setback after the death of an Algerian national who was facilitating the processing of the paper work.

The deceased was instrumental in the processing of their reverse international clearance after the two decided to leave Algerian club, USMB. Nkele and Sejewe returned home last June before their contracts expired and have been home since then. Nkele turned out for Mafolofolo while Sejewe played for Kutlwano before they moved to Algeria.

Sejewe said the deceased was the only person they could communicate with because he spoke English. "He was not a member of USMB but we only engaged him to help because he knew us," Sejewe said. Sejewe said it is going to be difficult to communicate with the team to give them clearance because they only speak Arabic. "But we have not lost hope; we believe something will come out of this," Sejewe said.    The Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) vice president (technical), George Keotsene said the two players have shown interest in joining their local teams but that is not possible as USMB has not issued a reverse clearance. He said he has tried to talk to USMB officials but language has been a barrier.  "All we wanted them to do is to clear the players in writing but there is a communication breakdown," Keotsene said.
