The Pick ‘n Pay Mokolodi Scorpion Cycling and Trial Challenge will be held on Sunday with more than 150 cyclists and about 50 runners expected to take part.

The challenge takes place at Mokolodi Nature Reserve and include 55km, 30km, 20km rides and trial run of 10km and 5km. Gaborone Cycling Club chairperson, Seamus ONeill said this year they are targeting fewer participants, particularly for the trial run, due to the upcoming Mayor’s Marathon. However, he said they expected cyclists to come in large numbers.

“Despite the big event ahead (Mayor’s Marathon), we are expecting a successful event and raise more money to Mokolodi and to also promote cycling and marathon in Botswana. We also have the category for junior cyclists and trial runners to unearth and promote their talents,” he said. ONeill said they have been working hand in hand with Mokolodi in planning and organising the routes that will be used by the runners and cyclists.
