Zebras' coach Stanley Tshosane faces a selection dilemma ahead of the CHAN competition and the COSAFA Cup with the two competitions' fixtures to be played in Zambia a week apart. Botswana host Zambia in the CHAN first round, first leg qualifier on June 22 before visiting the former AFCON champions exactly a week after the COSAFA final.

Zambia will host the revived COSAFA Cup from July 6-21 in Lusaka and Ndola that returns for the first time since 2009. CHAN is a biennial tournament administered by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is played by the best national teams of Africa, exclusively featuring players who are active in the national championships and qualified to play in the ongoing domestic season. Ideally, the coaches will take up and coming players plying their trade in their respective domestic leagues and these are likely to be different from the ones they use in the COSAFA.

Botswana Football Association (BFA) president Tebogo Sebego said they were keen to take part in both competitions despite the dates for the second leg being close to the COSAFA final. He said it was up to the coach to decide on the players to take to Zambia."We are taking part in both competitions and we still have the World Cup qualifiers as well. We cannot miss the opportunity for CHAN because it is meant to give guys, who would not normally play, an opportunity to do so. So the coach will sit and come up with a plan."We cannot miss the COSAFA as it returns - it's an important regional tournament and a revival which I support. CHAN gives an opportunity to players to showcase their skills," Sebego told Mmegi Sport.
