PALAPYE: The Botswana Netball Association (BONA) says it will find ways to incorporate the controversial Constituency League into its calendar of events. The association has been complaining in the past that the league, a brainchild of President Ian Khama, players were lost to this competition.

BONA president, Tebogo Lebotse told delegates at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Palapye on Saturday that the "Constituency League is a bigger animal than netball and we should just find ways of tapping into it". She added that instead of crying about the league taking away its players they should find ways of including the competition in their calendar of events. However, Delroy Nkomazana of Flying Hawks netball team wondered how exactly BONA is going to work since the Constituency League has its own rules. Nkomazana felt that the only way that the two can work together is when they combine their programmes. Nkomazana was concerned that the way the Constituency league is run is haphazard. Other delegates suggested that BONA should give grants at the beginning of the season to stop players from moving to the government-run league where life is easier.

Netball is one sport that has been adversely affected by the Constituency league.13 netball teams withdrew their BONA membership after they lost players to the controversial league, which has attracted the attention of organisations like the International Football Federation (FIFA). Just like their counterparts in football and volleyball, BONA tried in vain to have the Constituency League structure revised.
