The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) has announced the annual awards will be held in June. The awards, normally held in March or April, have been moved to June.

The awards are estimated to cost P3 million. However, next year's edition will be moved back to the usual dates. This year the awards also move back to the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) from Boipuso Hall.

The event was moved from its traditional home two years ago because the venue did not have enough space for the event. Addressing media practitioners yesterday, BNSC chairperson, Solly Reikeletseng said they were forced to shift the awards because they are still in negotiation with potential sponsors. "We are in talks with an international mining company and a local cellular company," he said. He added that the awards would be taken back to GICC because venue owners have assured them that they would be able to accommodate everyone invited. Nominations for the event have also started.
