BNOC secures P400,000 for volleyball

Women's volleyball side's preparations for the All Africa Games (AAG) qualifiers received a major boost after the Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) secured P400,000 through the Olympics Solidarity grant.

Part of the money will be used to prepare the team for the Olympic Games. The BNOC said this was part of its effort to give teams as much support and preparations as they possibly could. BNOC said in a statement said it would continue to look for other opportunities to assist teams and athletes.

Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) vice president (technical), George Keotsene said there were excited to receive the grant. He said BNOC only helped the women's team because the federation had requested funds for one team as per BNOC's advice. He said after accessing both men and women's teams they submitted a proposal for the women's team as they feel it stands a better chance of qualifying compared to their male counterparts. This is the first time that volleyball has received such funding from BNOC.
