BMC to fire Tamirepi?

BMC coach, Godfrey Tamirepi might lose his job despite leading the Lobaatse side to ninth spot in the just- ended be MOBILE Premier League season. This was a huge improvement from last season when BMC staged a last day escape act, beating BDF XI against the odds to finish 13th and avoid relegation by a whisker.

Despite the improved performance in the just-ended campaign, Tamirepi's future in Lobatse is not certain, a year after he joined the former Coca-Cola Cup champions from Francistown-based TAFIC. His contract runs until next year and BMC will have to part with a large sum of money if they want to ditch him. It is said that the club is courting Jwaneng Comets'coach, James Takavada who has helped the First Division side to a place in the promotion play-offs. However, BMC spokesperson Tiny Dinoko claimed ignorance of Tamirepi's imminent exit, saying: "If the team was to make any decision on the future of the coach then it should be at the meeting this week. As far as we know, he is still our coach, and whether he will stay on will be decided at that meeting".  The rumours that Takavada was due to take over the hot seat at BMC were further fuelled by his presence at the club's last game against Naughty Boys on Sunday. "I hear that he (Takavada) was at our game on Sunday but I cannot say why he was there. It is not true that we have already interviewed him," Dinoko said. Tamirepi said he is still to meet with the BMC management to review the just-ended season and no one has told him that he is on his way out. There are some who say the coach has failed the team given the amount of talent at his disposal, but the Zimbabwean maintains he has done fairly well to deserve another chance, though he is ready for any eventuality.  "Obviously I would have wanted to do much better but looking at the fact that they finished 13th last season before I came and this time we ended on position nine, I can say that there was a slight improvement," Tamirepi said.

"Anything is possible in this game and sometimes a coach is not fired because he performed badly, it could be other reasons. Sometimes it is because of the way you have been working with people and at times it is just that they no longer can afford to be with you. But I do not see why I should not be given any chance," he said.
