The Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) will finalise a team to represent the country in the 2014 Africa Youth Games (AYG) in table tennis. This follows the finals of the BISA table tennis held in Gaborone this week.

About 240 players took part in the competition in both singles and team category. Competitors were divided into 16 teams in the girls and boys sections. BISA competitions director, Gomolemo Rankosha told Mmegi Sport that they were eying players that did well in the final to groom them for the AYG. Results had not been released at the time of going to press but some top teams like of Mmadinare and Moshopa Senior Schools were expected to do well. Boago Malobela and Peo Thebe both of Moshupa Senior and Amantle Mfaladi of Mmadinare have been doing well and were expected to be among the top names at the end of the competition.

Malobela is the defending champion in the singles category (boys). National team player Boitshwarelo Butale donated two trophies to be awarded to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in each category. However, Rankosha said their major stumbling block was finding a place to host the event. He expressed concern at some school heads who are not willing to have their schools host such events.
