Botswana Golf Union (BGU) and Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS) are jointly engaged in an annual fund raising youth development charity tournament dubbed 'Chip In For Youth'. The tournament takes place at Gaborone Golf Club today.

A statement by BGU secretary general Ben Tobedza and BRCS president Dr Nomsa Mbere says the two organisations have partnered to raise funds for the youth development programmes and to raise awareness on the HIV/AIDS. "We are asking you to chip in for kids and help us reach our goal of raising P100,000 for aforementioned Youth Development Programmes. This is an annual event and a premier charity golf event and will also be a fun-filled day for you and your guests or clients," reads the statement in part.

It states that BGU is faced with many challenges to achieve its goal of developing golf and positioning the sport as a premier and alternative game in Botswana. BGU relies on Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC), corporate sponsors and individuals to implement its development programmes.
