BFA rallies behind Tshosane

Under fire Zebras coach, Stanley Tshosane will hang on to his job, at least for now, after the National Executive Committee (NEC) gave the coach a temporary lifeline during their Wednesday meeting.

The NEC met in a six-hour long meeting amid speculation that Tshosane would had his contract terminated following the team's recent failure to proceed beyond the group stages of the COSAFA Castle Senior Challenge Cup in Zambia. The NEC was expected to make a decision on Tshosane's future. However, it appears Tshosane still has his job and will be in charge tomorrow when Zebras play Zambia in a 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at Molepolole Sport Complex. Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego said their position was to back the coach ahead of the game and the September World Cup qualifier. The Zebras play Bafana Bafana in their final Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier.

"We discussed the matter yesterday and took a position. For now, there is nothing much we can say. We need to rally behind the coach as he goes into the next challenge. So we are rallying behind him," Sebego told Mmegi Sport. Tshosane is left with 20 months on his contract and an exit payout would cost the association a cool P1. 5 million. The former BDF XI coach reportedly refused to submit a COSAFA report this week on the ground that he was focusing on preparations for tomorrow's tie against Chipolopolo. Meanwhile, Tshosane continued with preparations for the CHAN encounter.
