Bafana Bafana have turned to axed captain, Bongani Khumalo as they seek to upstage the Zebras and steal a berth in the third round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. South Africa's coach, Gordon Igesund yesterday named a squad with eight overseas based players to face Botswana at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Khumalo makes a surprise return after only being axed as recent as after the 2013 AFCON finals. The England based player has been in decent form for second division side, Doncaster Rovers. The Zebras and Bafana Bafana were thrown a lifeline after Ethiopia were docked three points for using an ineligible player.Bafana are two points behind the leaders while the Zebras are a further point adrift.

The Zebras travel to the coastal city of Durban knowing that only a win will keep their dream alive. Stanley Tshosane summoned his charges to camp at the weekend but will have to do largely with local players. The South Africa based contingent cannot be released as the ABSA Premiership is in full swing.Meanwhile, tickets for the September 7 encounter are on sale in South Africa.
