BAA sends strong marathon team to Maseru

The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has sent a 20-member team to Maseru, Lesotho, for the Southern African Region (SAR) cross-country championships, which start tomorrow.

The team comprising 10 male and 10 female athletes will feature in the juniors and seniors' competitions. Among the members are hot property in the long races Mosa Badubi and the White sisters Kenewang and Khumo.Badubi, who is a student at Bobonong Junior School, has been doing well winning every local competition. Her last achievement was winning the Selebi-Phikwe marathon last weekend.

The White sisters, who have been giving Badubi a tough competition finishing in second and third places in most races, are also expected to do well in the competition.The local cross-country champion in the senior men's category Godiraone Nthompe and Kaelo Mosalagae, famous for running bare-footed, are also in the team. The tried and tested veteran runner Onkemetse Solotate and Marea Maano will represent the women's senior team.
